Breathwork with Bonnie Coberly

Join yoga and breathwork practitioner Bonnie Coberly to melt away stress and explore the healing power of your breath in community. If you're ready to release, rest, recharge and deeply connect with yourself and some other amazing people, please join us!

WHAT IS BREATHWORK?

Breathwork is an active meditation fueled by a consistent, conscious breathing technique. It is a powerful tool to help you quiet your mind, connect with your body and heart, release stuck energy and emotion, dissolve stress and anxiety, and experience deeper levels of spiritual connection.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE:

The breath is the most basic and profound doorway to access your life force energy and consciousness. The simple and profound practice of actively using breath to fill yourself with oxygen and move stuck energy out of your body feels like a highly focused meditation combined with the rejuvenation of a great nap and the deep emotional release of a good cry. It has this unexpected power to melt away what's no longer yours to keep and reconnect you squarely with the essence of who you are. Breath brings new life, always.

We'll begin with a 15-minute yin yoga practice to land in our bodies and stretch into inner stillness. Then we will spread out and get comfy on our mats to begin a 45-minute breathwork journey, guided by a two-part pranayama breath, music and essential oils. You will use the fullness and healing power of each breath to feel your intentions, move through your limitations, nourish your nervous system, and deeply connect with your own energy and wisdom. Our group size will be limited so you can receive individual support and guidance, if needed. We will close in circle, with plenty of time for sharing and integration.

No previous experience is required, just a willingness to explore the process. While the breathing practice is different for everyone and each journey is unique, some benefits and experiences may include:

- emotional release and healing

- letting go of old stories, trauma, energy, and experiences that no longer serve you

- a deeper connection to Self and Spirit

- tapping into your intuition and strength

- reduced stress and anxiety

- improved sleep and ability to relax/rest

- feeling lighter, clearer and more joyful

WHAT TO BRING:

- A small pillow

- an eye mask (if you want to block out light)

- a water bottle and journal

- wear light, comfy clothing you'd want to sit and lay down in for several hours

Please note: breathwork is most comfortable and effective when your stomach is not full. Please refrain from eating a heavy meal prior to the workshop.

Being a passionate person and a bar owner, I’ve persuaded the film’s producers and actors to come to San Francisco for an exclusive premiere, which will take place on September 6 at 6:30 Roxy Theater.

After the screening, we are preparing to throw an outstanding afterparty with Meet&Greet, backstage stories, cocktails, beautiful people, DJ, and a mind-blowing venue! at 9:00.

You are all invited.

Give Me Liberty is not just an amazing film, which will definitely win all the possible awards. It’s also an incredible experience to be shared with loved ones.

This movie is undoubtedly about love. And like most great love stories, it is about life and choices, about people finding a home away from home and being similar underneath significant differences.

Besides, it's one of the funniest comedies I've ever seen.

SF Heritage 2019 Lecture Series Presents: History of Tamale-Making in San Francisco

As a cheap and easy-to-prepare food, the sale of tamales on the streets of San Francisco dates to the Gold Rush. By 1890, tortilla factories flourished in the Mexican Quarter surrounding Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (at 906 Broadway), with the city’s residents consuming more than 25,000 tamales each week. Jonathan Lammers explores San Francisco’s rich tamale-making tradition. Co-presented by 906 World Cultural Center and SF Latino Historical Society.

The New Religion by Artists Natalia Lvova and Misha Priem

Artists Natalia Lvova and Misha Priem bring to light their vision on modern society’s values and beliefs.

“Where will you look for answers to existential questions, whether as a believer in God or as an atheist? To answer the question, ‘What is the meaning of life?’ a modern person does not turn to God or the universe, but will search the all-knowing Internet,” says artist Natalia Lvova. “Is this too much? Is it insulting the feelings of believers? In Russia, yes. In California, no.”

“The New Religion” will run from June 23 – July 21 with a grand opening reception on June 23rd. Please join us for refreshments and valuable public talks.

Laughter Yoga with Brenna Foley

Laughter (Haysa) Yoga is an ancient, new concept - giving you the ability to enhance your health using prolonged laughter without relying on jokes or comedy. We initiate laughter as a creative exercise with childlike playfulness. Soon, our laughter becomes spontaneous and contagious. Laughter brings more oxygen to the body and begins a cascade of significant health benefits, resulting in new levels of energy and relaxation.

“Laughter dissolves the distance between two or more people because irrespective of our language, culture, age or gender - a sincere laugh is unmistakably understood.”

- Dr. Dennis Merritt Jones (revised)

About Brenna Foley

I discovered laughter yoga in 2016 while living in Thailand and was certified as a Laughter Yoga leader in October 2018 at the Osher Center for Integrated Medicine in San Francisco. I moved to Marin in October 2017 and in addition to laughter yoga I also teach Music and Movement to TK-2nd grade students at Vallecito Elementary School.

Belles Lettres Book Club with Alisa Ellie

A story is always better if you have someone to share it with.

Reading is often seen as a mean to achieve a goal. More often we open the books only to improve our skills and use them as a tool to be more efficient. If the books we read are all about work, how can we call it a hobby?

Alisa Ellie, Ukrainian by origin, moved to the US in 2017 to start her life anew. She was always passionate about reading and writing, and the new country opened up new horizons for her.

Alisa launched www.alisaellie.blog and joined the #bookstagram community to find like-minded people and share her affection for books. She gained a vast audience and partnered with many publishers, writers and brands such as Penguin Random House, BookSparks, Amazon Publishers, Scribd, Michel Guyon, Steve Copling, Page Anchor, Happy Socks x Barnes-n-Noble, Health Tea Book Crate, Jord Watches and Silverleaf.

Alisa was a guest blogger for Katherine Heigl’s celebrity blog Those Heavenly Days. Her article 5 Fun Adventures To Get Outside Before It’s Too Cold was featured on the blog.

Her goal is to share the best works of literature through Belles Lettres Book Club, to help establish a habit of reading and unite readers around this habit.

"Reading is another way of traveling the worlds that never become real. We all eager to embark on a new adventure and I am more than happy to quench this wanderlust.”

Doors open at 5:00 pm and event starts at 5:30 pm.
